Lab

The highly dynamic social and urban developments in Hong Kong's Pearl River Delta make the city one of the major international hubs – as an actor and as an object – for urban studies. Two basic approaches are envisaged: on a more analytical level, to research processes of appropriation; these processes engender a more bottom-up viewpoint (incorporating aesthetic approaches) rather than grand city-planning conceptions. On a more interventionist level, Connecting Spaces provides scope for critical research and for projects on how art and artistic strategies affect urban development and planning. Main cooperation partner: Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Design. Website under construction; detailed informations about other ongoing projects will be published soon.
